Evaluation Question 6
Question 6- what have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing the product?
Also much more equipment use such as the tripod which I had
no idea how to use or set up before this and I found the tripod to be great hen
coming to capturing some good still shots. Also I used a dolly which is a
tripod that is on wheels which is great to capture some good establishing shots
such as in my main task.
I found the use of blogger to be a mixture between useful
and annoying, I found that when uploading images or videos for it to be
irritating to position but I did find that it was a good use to get my research
and planning across in a neat structured form.

Evaluation Question 3
What kind of Media Institution Might Distribute your media product and why?
Our film would most likely be distributed by a mainstream hollywood company due to the mass audience it appeals to and how new and high tech we created it. This kind of company would be interested in my product because it is designed to make sales and attract a mass audience, it attracts this by using a wide range of characters and locations. My film was shot in the UK but by using American big name actors it will be able to attract the American mass audience preferable someone for the role of Michael Staines, who does the voiceover for film opening. A Film company that would be good for mine would be Unioveral Pictures because a subsidary company they own are Working Title and they create films which are similar to ours such as the film Gone which is about a girl with psychological issues about a killer.
Similar films to mine which have attracted a mass audience include films such as The Sixth Sense (1999) which made huge profits, the film is similar to mine as it has a young child protagonist about how he can see dead people similar to my film as Ethan is able to see his dead brother but is also able to see people that have not been born yet and to the later of my film he starts to be able to control the babies inside the woman becoming a struggle of life and death.
The Sixth Sense:
These figures show that if my film is half as successful as The Sixth Sense (1999) I would have made a mass profit.

Due to my film company being mainstream it would be distributed to big mainstream cinemas such as Odeon so it can reach the big screen, I would distribute to these places because I can make a bigger profit from distributing to a mass audience. My film would be distributed through an online download from a secure sight so it can be accesssed by more cinemas although this does open my film up to piracy but due to my film being a big blockbuster it should gross a bigger profit even if it's pirated.
My film would be seen in the best resolution and 48fps to make it as smooth and best quality as possible. Although the use of 3D is becoming bigger and bigger my film would not use this as it is distracting to the audience and would not work for my psychological thriller as it works for more action or comedy movies such as The Hobbit (2012) which introduced the new 3D 48fps. I am a mainstream company and because of this i am able to distribute the product to create the biggest profit possible.

Evaluation Question 1
Question 1- In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The generic conventions we used for our media product were mainly mystery and paranormal, these are generic conventions of a Thriller genre and we portrayed mystery through the use of making the film start as if it is halfway through a story line so the audience ask questions the whole way through the film. Paranormal was used as we tried to make the camera look like it was a ghost so they audience feel like they are watching Ethan, we did this by using an over the shoulder shot near the start and the tracking round the corner and through the hallway, these shots give the film the paranormal look. It goes against a generic convention of following one person as we have 3 main characters.
Our film is similar to films such as The Sixth Sense (1999) because it talks about a child who is mentally ill and can see dead people, our piece is similar because Ethan is mentally ill and he also sees his dead brother. Other similarities include the use of many naturalistic lighting shots such as in our piece making it seem real and natural. The way that the boy acts and is dressed are similar to ours because he acts mature and dresses in quite plan dull clothes such as in our piece. It is also similar in the use of characters, having a male, female and young male to be the stand out three characters same as ours.
Differences between them include how The Sixth Sense has a more of a horror feel whereas we wanted to make it mysterious we did this by the use of sound. It is also different in the kind of shots used as we focused more on mid shots and close ups where as, The Sixth Sense uses more 2 shots and long shots. It is also different in the use of following 3 different characters and story lines. It is also different in the use of actors from different countries as we tried to appeal to more of a mass audience.
Our film has been majorly influenced by films such as The Sixth Sense and Pain Is Beautiful (2012) because they both are psychological thrillers and one focuses on a disease in Pain Is Beautiful where William has a mental disease and can't feel any emotion such as Ethan in our piece where he can't feel any emotion. Ours was also influenced by The Sixth Sense on how Ethan can see dead people such as the young boy in The Sixth Sense.
